The Consular Section of the Embassy of Angola in Botswana, provides assistance and services to Angolan citizens living in the area of its jurisdiction as well as visa services for all Batswana’s and Foreign citizens residing in Botswana.

The Civil Register and Registration Desk of the Consular Section provides citizenship services including Consular registration, travel information, weddings and assistance to Angolan citizens in the process of issuing passports, birth certificates and death registrations.

The Consular Section also offers notary services to Companies and individuals, such as the affidavit and powers of attorneys.

The Visa Section provides information and support for travelers who would like to visit, work or do business in the Republic of Angola and applicants who wish to enter Angola and reside there permanently.

REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE

The Consular Act of Civil Registry is the one who is related to legal facts that create, modify or extinguish the status of civilian nationals residing abroad or, occasionally, who practice is provided in the legislation regarding the registration process conducted in a civil and consular post, or Consulates.

  1. Document issued by the Health Services of Local authorities, as proof of birth of the person in that area;
  2. The newborn should be son or daughter of Angolans parents or at least one Angolan and foreign or vice versa;
  3. the parents or one of them will be accompanied by a document identifying them as parents of the newborn (Angolans abroad).
CONSULAR REGISTRATION

The Consular Registration, is a mandatory act, in principle at no cost , whereby the identification of the citizen is given on national archives of the consular post by the area of jurisdiction fixed of residence, and immigrant, or is occasionally overseas for period of six months.

POWER OF ATTORNEY

Requirements:

RECOGNITION OF SIGNATURES

Requirements:

  1. Copy of passport.
  2. Collection, 3 working days.
  3. Application Fee BWP250.

AFFIDAVIT / PROOF OF LIFE

Requirements:

  1. Copy of passport.
  2. Copy of retirement card.

PROTECTION & CONSULAR ASSISTANCE

The protection of the Angolan citizens with physical or legal residence, in transit or based in Consular District including the following

  1. In case of death.
  2. In case of accident or serious illness.
  3. In case of arrest or detention.
  4. Victim of violent crime.
  5. In case of repatriation or provision of aid.

MILITARY ENLISTMENT

The General Military Service Law No. 1 / 93 of March 23rd and the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 18/98 of December 31st, stipulates that every national citizen who reach 18 years of age must identify themselves. Those who are outside the country they must adjusted their status with the military Services at Consular Section.
In compliance of military obligations, the Consular Section provides cooperation in the following cases:

  1. Completion of the declaration of individual census military
  2. Postponement of incorporation for reasons of Education
  3. Issue of military ballots

MARRIAGE PROCESS (between Angolan citizens)

Requirements:

  1. Certificate of marriage capacity, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Angola).
  2. Birth certificate, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Angola).
  3. Copy of Consular card.
  4. Two witnesses
  5. Copy of passport – from the couple as well as witnesses.
  6. The process should be submitted three months before the intended date of marriage.
  7. Marriage certificate must be collected from Angola.
  8. Prescribed fees BWP3000,00

MARRIAGE PROCESS (between a national and foreign)

Requirements:

TRANSCRIPTION PROCESS OF MARRIAGE

Requirements:

  2. Birth certificate, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  4. Two witnesses
  5. Copy of passport – from the couple as well as witnesses.
  6. The process should be submitted three weeks before the intended date of marriage.
  7. Marriage certificate must be collected from Angola.
  8. Prescribed fees BWP3000,00

NATIONAL PASSPORT – 1ST TIME ISSUE

Requirements:

  1. Three color passport size photographs
  2. Copy of ID / Birth Certificate.
  3. Copy of Consular card.
  4. Letter from school / service.
  5. Affi-davit from the parents (for children under 18 years).
  6. Copy of identification of the parents (for children under 18 years).
  7. Application Fee BWP250

NATIONAL PASSPORT – RE-ISSUANCE

Requirements:

  1. Three color passport size photographs
  2. Copy of ID / Birth Certificate.
  3. Copy of Consular card.
  4. Letter from school / service.
  5. Affi-davit from the parents (for children under 18 years).
  6. Copy of identification of the parents (for children under 18 years).
  7. Copy of passport – all pages.
  8. In case of lost or stolen passports, letter from the police.
  9. Collection, two to three months.
  10. Application Fee BWP250

EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT

Requirements:

  1. Two color passport size photographs
  2. Copy of identification
  3. Police Report / Affidavit – in case of lost or stolen passport.
  4. Application Fee BWP250

GENERAL VISA INFORMATION

The general information provided below is intended to minimize the inconvenience to those who may be planning to travel to Angola and requires an entry visa in the near term. The local consular office has been authorized to process both ordinary and work visas under current regulations.

Requirements for An Ordinary Visa:

  1. Two Passport size photos colour not photocopy please
  2. Copy of Residents permit in Botswana
  3. Photo copy of vaccination certificate for Yellow fever
  4. Letter from organization or company here in Botswana stating purpose of visit
  5. Invitation from Angola.
  6. Those travelling on personal business or holiday should have the fax sent to the Embassy Fax 397 5089 together with a photo copy of the Invitee’s National ID
  7. Applicants passport should be valid for more than 6 months and not less
  8. Fee is 100 US Dollars for single Entry Visa
  9. Fee is 150 US Dollars for a Double Entry Visa
  10. Duration is 5 – 15 working day

Note: Reminder , Passports are collected on Thursday afternoons only – all application forms together with passports should be handed on Monday.

TRANSIT VISA

All requirements listed in Requirements for An Ordinary Visa. However, copy of a ticket is required.

Requirements for a Transit Visa

  1. Two completely filled out application forms.
  2. Two recent passport size pictures with the name written on the back. White background (No snapshots allowed).
  3. A passport valid for at least 6 months.
  4. Certified check or money order in the amount of $ 50.00. Personal checks are not accepted.
  5. Proof of means of subsistence while in Angola ($ 100.00 per day).

WORK VISA

Copy of a contract signed by the representative of the firm or institution employing, hiring or sponsoring the trip, stating specifically the job to be performed by applicant, the duration of the contract, and the fact that employer takes full financial responsibility for the applicant. Contract must be authenticated by a Public Notary and it must be addressed to the Consular services of the Embassy of Angola.

Requirements for Work Visa:

  1. Three color passport size photographs
  2. Photocopies of all the important pages of your passport, specially the pages showing immigration information as in countries you visit/visited
  3. A letter from the institution with which your business or you will fall under, with favorable response to enable the issuance of the work permit.
  4. A letter from the applicat declaring that she/he will respect and abide by the rules and governing laws in the country.
  5. Updated criminal record
  6. Certificate of qualifications in duplicate
  7. Employment contract in duplicate
  8. Updated medical record in duplaceted
  9. Proof of legal company record
  10. Partnership Agreement in case of joint venture
  11. Updated proof of paymment of taxes (Previous record)
